Having balance in life is important for everyone. Living a balanced life bring a sense of harmony, good physical health, and emotional resilience. Just as nature has balance, we all need to create a balance in our lives to better handle stressful situations, to work effectively, achieve goals, enjoy relationships with others, and feel emotionally in control.
The main areas to be concerned with are physical balance and emotional balance. The human body needs a balance to maintain good health. When the body becomes out of balance many difficulties can arise such as physical pain and disease. Emotionally and mentally we have a naturally tendency toward happiness and enjoyment. Living with emotional distress, negativity, and pessimism brings about suffering and unhappiness.
When you feel at peace with yourself and have physical energy to accomplish the day's tasks there is alignment and balance in your life. Being a college student can be a difficult balancing act. There are many challenges and demands that are different from any other time in life. There are the pressures of academics, social life, choosing a major and career, participating in athletics, taking care of physical needs such as sleep, and dealing with constant change. If personal problems are added on top of these pressures you can feel overwhelmed and lose your balance.
In order to begin to find balance in your life, take a look at your values and reality concerning your health, your relationships, your studies, and your emotional state. Then examine your behaviors, your attitudes, priorities in your life, and identify areas where there are inadequacies.
